Plasticure

Tech-Dry working in conjunction with Victoria University has developed & formulated an innovative silicone water repellent admixture: Plasticure.

Plasticure is a solvent-free aqueous silicone emulsion used in the manufacture of cement stabilised rammed earth.

Plasticure significantly reduces water absorption thereby reducing the possibility of efflorescence, mould or mildew staining. The performance of Plasticure greatly exceeds that of traditionally used stearate and oleate admixtures in the reduction of water absorption and efflorescence. The product has gained world-wide recognition and is used by rammed earth architects and builders in many countries.

Dosage Rate

The rate of addition depends on the specific mix design and the level of water repellency required. The usual dosage rate is approximately 0.5 litre of PLASTICURE per tonne (1000kg) of dry mix ingredients.
